Photographed below are pieces from my first two hand-building classes in 2021 and 2022. My earlier pieces were mostly a learning process of both manipulating and working with the clay, allowing the clay to guide me as I worked. I have been working on developing my style and voice, which has been called “grounding and comforting.” I focus on simple shapes and techniques, along with natural and muted colors.
I am currently working on a botanical series with leaf and flower motifs, similar to the leaf dishes shown below, which will be added as a photographic collection when finished.
